Outdoor Leadership

Nothing says summer like days outside swimming, hiking, and building shelters. A lot of growth and change happens when you’re uncomfortable. For our students, these are largely unknown skills. They didn’t grow up “roughing it”.

Outdoor Leadership (ODL) combines practical skills and leadership training, teaching teens to work together, encourage one another, and confidently handle challenges in often unpredictable conditions.

Equip teens to grow in resilience and confidence by supporting the ODL program through these key needs:

Spool of Paracord - $50
A 250-foot length of paracord is a versatile tool. It can be used to tie knots, create obstacle courses, and construct shelters. The humble rope has long been an essential tool for survival. Your gift ensures that the students have what they need to learn foundational outdoor skills.

New Life Jacket - $90
Summer is full of fun activities, but staying safe at the lake or a nearby river is essential! Even strong swimmers can find themselves farther out than they thought and too exhausted to return. Your gift of a life jacket keeps everyone safe in the surf!

Survival Trip - $500
Learning on-site lays a foundation, but taking those skills out to the nearby Cypress Hills National Park is where it all comes together. Setting out early, the students build survival shelters and spend a night in the wild. Your gift makes this unforgettable experience possible.

Bouldering Wall - $2,500
A short but wide climbing wall, bouldering gives the students a chance to build confidence, tenacity, and problem-solving skills as they work together to tackle this adjustable course. Built in RSR’s workout gym, your gift creates a safe, physical challenge year-round, turning energy into growth.
