Working with teens with life controlling issues is challenging, there's no doubt about that, but it's also very rewarding. The relationships that you can build with these young people can be transformational, both for them and for you. A number of our staff have developed mentoring relationships with students that continue to grow and thrive even after the student and the staff have both moved on from Rock Solid.
While some volunteers are happy to give solely of their time and labour, other volunteers share their passion with these young men and introduce them to a new skill, hobby, or career opportunity and demonstrate God's loving care through His people. Knowing that there are people who want to get to know them and show them love and support is an incredible encouragement.
Whether you're wanting to spend a few months or a whole year interning at Rock Solid Refuge, we want to integrate your passions and unique skills into our program. Each intern brings something different to the table, and we're excited to see how YOU will impact these young men. We're also dedicated to helping you grow both in the skills needed to work effectively at RSR as well as grow spiritually during your time with us. We provide room and board for our interns as well as a monthly honorarium for your time with us.
Regardless of whether you're a Youth Care Worker, and accountant, or yard manager, all careers at Rock Solid Refuge help pour into the lives of the young men at Rock Solid Refuge. Communal lunches help connect everyone at Rock Solid Refuge and give opportunities for those who don't work with the students directly to pour into their lives. Whatever your role at RSR, everyone is a local missionary.
