Spring Needs List
What if each student had one or two small greenhouses to care for? This would give a student a personal sense of pride and accomplishment as a salad is created from Travis’ lettuce, Seth’s spinach, Doug’s carrots, Gabe’s cucumbers, and William’s radishes. Even with a modest backyard, a person could easily set up a small greenhouse and enjoy the fruits (or vegetables) of their labor. What once may have been seen as an irreproducible feat becomes a lot more personal, manageable, and fulfilling.
Yard Grading is the most costly of these projects at the moment. Between the gravel and cost of renting equipment, grading the Rock Solid parking area would cost roughly $5,000 but could save more than that on vehicle maintenance and repair.
For student downtime and phys ed classes, we are also wanting to build a “Gaga Ball” court. If you don’t know what that is, you’re not alone. It is a gentler though more active version of dodgeball. The material for a court would only cost roughly $200.
